With the Cambrian Mountains to the East and the rugged coastline of Cardigan Bay to the West, mid Wales offers cyclists an incredible range of dramatic and stunning scenery. Traversing this terrain are numerous rivers, and this tour follows the course of one of the most spectacular: the river Teifi.

The highlight of this tour is the ever-changing landscape. You will descend at a leisurely pace from a mountain top start, through quiet country lanes and alongside the meandering river before reaching the breathtaking coast. Your itinerary will offer plenty of time to explore the history of the region as you pass through it; this includes Bronze Age settlements, medieval abbeys, woollen mills and the home of Welsh coracle fishing. Your route will also give you the opportunity to stop off in the towns of Tregaron, Lampeter, Newcastle Emlyn and Cardigan.

Your overnight stops for this tour will be in the bustling towns of Lampeter and Newcastle Emlyn, and the village of Gwbert where you'll get unrivalled views across the Teifi estuary and Cardigan Bay. Enjoy excellent food and tastefully furnished rooms, and a comfortable bed for a good night's sleep.

Day 1 – We'll transfer you and your bike to the source of the river Teifi. From there you will descend to the river valley and have the option of visiting Strata Florida Abbey, before joining the cycle path alongside the Cors Caron wetland system. After passing through the market town of Tregaron you will follow quiet country lanes towards Lampeter, where you'll stay the night.

Day 2– Departing from Lampeter, you'll ride across undulating countryside towards the town of Llandysul. From here, you'll make your way towards Drefach Felindre where there is a chance to visit the National Wool Museum. The last destination for today is the market town of Newcastle Emlyn; why not visit its ruined medieval castle before checking into your hotel for the night.

Day 3 - Today's route takes you downstream to Cenarth, a small village famous for its history of salmon fishing using the traditional coracle. Continuing along the river, you'll arrive at the Welsh Wildlife Centre in Cilgerran, from where you can pedal into Cardigan along the river-side cycle path. You can have a wander around town and visit Cardigan Castle, before heading out towards Gwbert where your ride ends.

Day 4 – When you're ready, we'll transfer you and your bike back to your chosen starting point.
